Australia is a nation in love with the idea of renovating: 54% of home-owners have renovated in the past and a quarter of home-owners plan to renovate their home in the next year, according to a new survey
by ServiceSeeking.com.au.

It suggests that the success of renovation television programs has inspired more Australians to redesign their homes.
“Renovating is big business at the moment,” says ServiceSeeking.com.au CEO Jeremy Levitt. “Home-owners love to update, experiment and change their surroundings so there is always plenty of work around for tradies.”

Levitt suggests that, with some property markets continuing to show growth, the rewards will not only be in the satisfaction a newly-renovated space brings, but in the monetary rewards should they be renovating to sell.

However, home-owners need to be careful. It can be a mistake to assume the amount spent on renovations will add a similar amount to the value of a home.
